OSCIA administers several programs for farmers, including the Environmental Farm Plan and cost-sharing programs that support Species at Risk. We worked with OSCIA to complete a scoping study that evaluated the potential for a new component for Ontario’s EFP. This addition would suggest management practices for farms that provide habitat for Species at Risk.
Our team reviewed policies and programs from across Canada to assess the current framework in place and the options used in other provinces. By leveraging our network, we interviewed biologists, ecologists, agricultural representatives, and technical consultants to develop forward-thinking recommendations. Our report evaluated options for implementation, provided cost estimates, and identified key actors in developing a Species at Risk component for the Ontario EFP.
