Agri-environmental Program Development and Delivery
Our team worked with the Canadian Wildlife Services, Environment and Climate Change Canada (CWS-ECCC) to undertake a scoping study to gain a better understanding of the benefit of, and potential approach, to adding carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction content into the Ontario Environmental Farm Plan (EFP).
The feasibility assessment determined potential pathways for Ontario’s EFP program in relation to integrating GHG emission and carbon sequestration content.
The feasibility assessment consisted of several research and engagement activities:
A detailed review of 5 other province’s approaches to GHG emissions reduction content
A review and gap analysis of the 4th edition Ontario EFP content is it relates to GHG emissions content
Interviews with key EFP stakeholders
Two focus groups; one with OSCIA field staff who deliver the EFP workshops, and another with a broader group of Ontario EFP program stakeholders
Ultimately, we synthesized the findings from the above research activities to provide EFP program stakeholders with four potential pathways to incorporating GHG emissions reduction content into the EFP program. This work will support the direction of future iterations of the Ontario EFP.
